Many school libraries still rely on outdated systems or manual workflows to manage book collections. Cataloging books, organizing shelves, tracking loans, and generating reports can take significant time and often requires technical expertise. Librar Labs set out to build a modern AI-powered library system that simplifies these tasks. The platform integrates catalog management, inventory automation, analytics, and student discovery tools into one intelligent system designed specifically for schools.
Problem Statement
Traditional library management systems are often complex, outdated, and difficult to maintain. Schools struggle to keep track of collections and encourage student engagement with reading. Key issues identified: • Manual inventory processes — cataloging and organizing books requires significant time and effort • Outdated interfaces — many library systems feel complex and unintuitive for modern users • Lack of insights — librarians have limited data about reading trends and book circulation • Operational overhead — administrative tasks reduce time available for student engagement

At Watermelon Studio, we worked on designing the product experience and building a scalable interface that simplifies complex library workflows. AI-powered inventory experience We designed workflows that allow librarians to quickly catalog and organize books using intelligent automation and image-based recognition. Simplified library management interface We structured the product to make searching, cataloging, and managing books intuitive even for non-technical users. Modern education-focused UX The interface was designed to feel approachable and accessible for educators while still supporting advanced analytics and automation features.
